Adams and Anton Roads upgrade

Western Sydney Airport (WSA) is upgrading a section of Adams Road closest to Northern Road and all of Anton Road Luddenham. Works are being completed by WSA's contractor, CPB Acciona Joint Venture.

The upgrade will allow for heavy vehicles to access the Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport site during construction and when the airport is in operations, as well as improving safety for motorists travelling along Adams Road.

When will work commence?

Early works on the Adams and Anton Road commenced in November 2021 and will continue for the duration of 2022 weather permitting.

What's happening?

June 2022   

  • Major works have commenced, and a full road closure remains in place on a section of Adams Road. During this time motorists are advised to detour via Elizabeth Drive and The Northern Road. Please see map below.

  • Access to the Hubertus Club remains open via Elizabeth Drive 

  • The existing pavement of the road has been milled and box excavation has started 

  • Work to construct a new culvert on Anton Road is underway 

  • Bulk Earthworks have commenced including the removal of topsoil and preparation work to stabilise the ground, over the next few months, the base of the new road will be built up and compacted in layers to prepare the foundation ahead of paving and asphalting work

 

Why are you closing the road?

The upgrade of Adams Road and Anton Road requires a full rework of both the roads. This will require digging up the old road, installing of new culverts under the road, relocating utilities & services, and widening the road. If the road was to remain open under traffic control, the duration of the works would be significantly longer.

Construction work hours

Standard work hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 7am - 6pm
  • Saturday: 8am - 1pm

 

Out of hours (OOH) work: Some out of hours work may be required in the future. We will notify the community ahead of time of this work and any road closures.
