Completed Construction Packages

Early Earthworks

The Early Earthworks package was delivered by the CPB Contractors and Lendlease Joint Venture and was completed in May 2020. Early earthworks helped lay the foundations for the construction of the airport, including moving 1.8 million cubic metres of earth within a prescribed area of the site, construction of a new and realigned Badgerys Creek Road, and a new intersection at Elizabeth Drive in collaboration with Transport for NSW.

Major Earthworks

The Major Earthworks contract was awarded to CPB Contractors and Lendlease Joint Venture in August 2019. On 9 September 2020, Acciona completed the acquisition of Lendlease Engineering and as such, the Major Earthworks contractor is now referred to as CPB Contractors and Acciona Joint Venture. The major earthworks stage involved significant design and construction responsibilities, including moving around 25 million cubic meters of earth to support construction of the major elements of the airport, such as the runway and terminal. Major Earthworks for Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport began in March 2020 and reached practical completion in March 2023.

Adams and Anton Roads Upgrade

Western Sydney Airport (WSA) upgraded a section of Adams Road closest to The Northern Road and all of Anton Road, Luddenham. Works were completed by WSA's Major Earthworks contractor, the CPB Acciona Joint Venture. The upgrade has allowed for heavy vehicles to access the WSA site during construction as well as will provide access when the airport is operational. WSA's upgrade of Adams Road and Anton Road commenced in November 2021 and was completed in November 2022.

WSI Experience Centre

The WSI Experience Centre is now serving as an educational hub for the airport. Building the centre involved detailed excavation and drainage works, building construction of the Experience Centre and the office buildings near it, landscaping and upgrade of Eaton Road. The WSI Experience Centre opened in September 2019 after the completion of works by Watpac Construction.
