WSA Co today announced its shortlist for the highly-coveted Delivery Partner for the development of the new airport.
Chief Executive of WSA Co, Graham Millett, said interest in the appointment, which will provide project management, planning, design development and construction management services included a strong mix of local and international consortia.
“We've had strong interest from across industry and we expect to have a highly-competitive tender process with four parties now moving through to the Request for Tender stage,” Mr Millett said.
“We anticipate the award of the contract will be completed mid-year and we expect to see both the Delivery Partner and early earthworks commencing in the third quarter of this year,” he said.
The airport will support more than 11,000 direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase and WSA Co and its delivery partners will target local employment of 30 per cent for all construction jobs.
One of the nation's most significant infrastructure projects in decades, the airport will open in 2026, providing international and domestic passenger and freight services and generating around 28,000 jobs across Western Sydney during the first five years of operation.
