Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI) is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from Western Sydney and Australia’s most exciting artists to develop transformative and unique pieces of art for Sydney’s new 24-hour airport.
WSI CEO Simon Hickey said this is part of a series of new art commissions that will be undertaken at the airport over the coming years as part of WSI’s Art & Place program.
“When we open our doors in late 2026, WSI will be so much more than just an airport,” Mr Hickey said.
“Art can play a pivotal role in creating a positive experience for our customers, by helping to make WSI a welcoming, engaging space for travellers coming to our airport.
“Incorporating art to create distinctive, world-class environments is now the benchmark among major infrastructure projects both in Australia and overseas.
“Through our Art & Place program we will bring to life an already stunning terminal and forecourt with art that inspires and excites, offering visitors the chance to engage with Western Sydney’s vibrant story.
“We’re calling on artists who reflect the diversity of voices and cultures that thrive in Western Sydney – our city’s cultural heartland – to get involved,” Mr Hickey said.
WSI is commencing two EOI opportunities to develop artwork to be displayed at prominent locations at the airport terminal and forecourt.
Expressions of interest will close on Wednesday 27 November. Interested parties who demonstrate the necessary capabilities may then be invited to participate in a shortlisting process, which will begin later this year.
Visit the WSI Art and Place page for further information. Future opportunities will also be advertised via this webpage. Artists can also email artandplace@wsaco.com.au to be added to a distribution list.
