The Best Swimming Spots in Western Sydney!

Summer
Summer is on its way!

Barbeques are firing up in parks across Sydney, the sunscreen is being applied and the cricket is back on the TV. Most importantly though, it is the perfect weather to get in for a swim!

While our friends to the east usually get bragging rights on the best places to swim in Sydney, us Western Sydney folk have plenty of incredible options when it comes to places to swim.

Here are a few of our favourite places to cool down this summer.

Jellybean Pool, Glenbrook

Drive past the info centre at the Glenbrook entrance of the Blue Mountains National Park and follow the signs to one of the most stunning natural waterholes in Australia. You will be treated with crystal clear fresh water and the stunning bushland of the Blue Mountains National Park surrounding you as you cool down. It can get quite busy so be sure to get there early to secure a spot on the minimal patches of sand available!

Lake Parramatta

This gem is tucked away on the north side of Sydney’s second city Parramatta. It is hard to believe that this beautiful swimming location is just a fifteen-minute walk from Parramatta station. There is a specifically sanctioned area of about 100 metres for swimming and lifeguards patrolling the area in the summer months.

Kentlyn Basin, Kentlyn

With plenty of parking and towel space available to lounge around to soak up the summer sun, Kentlyn Basin is a very popular swimming spot near Campbelltown. Known as ‘The Basin’, the swimming hole has stone banks and a small waterfall to enjoy. A word of warning though, it is easy to walk down to via the well built staircases, it is not so fun when you have to walk back up the stairs!

Yarramundi Reserve, Yarramundi

Looking for somewhere to take the dogs with you while you swim? Yarramundi is the place to go! Yarramundi Reserve is an off-leash dog friendly place, so expect to see plenty of dogs running around enjoying the water with their owners.  Be mindful that if you or your child are not great with dogs that this may not be the right place for you.

Raging Waters, Prospect

Don’t like the feeling of sand between your toes? Head to Raging Waters and cool down in one of their many pools. Feel like getting the adrenaline pumping? Get on one of their water slides or ‘The Beach Wave Pool’ and have a great day out with your family while enjoying summer!
