We're planting more than 2,000 trees in our Ecological Conservation Zone!

We're teaming up with our friends at Rotary to plant more than 2,000 native trees in our Ecological Conservation Zone!

Volunteers from WSI and rotary braved a warm Sunday morning in early November to help rehabilitate and conserve native vegetation.

The airport has approximately 117 hectares of Ecological Conservation zones across three sites close to the airport. These areas have been allocated for biodiversity rehabilitation and for the protection of existing aboriginal heritage.

Not only is this activity good for the environment, but it allows us to engage with local community groups like rotary to create meaningful change here in Western Sydney.

A special moment came late in the morning when Western Sydney local Simone Schokman dedicated a grove of trees for her father Maurie who passed away.

“My dad set up an organisation in the Philippines for underprivileged kids”, Simone 'It was an emotional moment standing on-site and looking at the grove that we planted in memory of my dad. I know that he would have been proud of the work we are doing here”.

Imagine looking our from a plane in 2026, and looking down on the grove of native trees you planted in 2023 - thriving, and contributing to a healthy ecosystem... we can't wait!
