Sydney’s new airport appoints retail lead

12 August 2022

Western Sydney Airport has appointed Glyn Williams to lead its retail development, shaping the shopping and dining experience for future customers at Sydney’s new airport.

As General Manager Retail, Mr Williams will oversee the planning and design of the retail offering for Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport.

The shopping, dining and entertainment experience will be an important part of the world-class customer journey that Australia’s newest and most exciting airport will deliver, Mr Williams said.

“This terminal will be a destination in its own right – with specialty retail, restaurants and cafes, as well as an outdoor plaza that can host events like local food festivals, markets and community celebrations,” Mr Williams said.

“We’ve got a unique greenfield opportunity to deliver an exceptional and compelling customer experience unconstrained by legacy airport retail operating principles.”

Mr Williams was previously the General Manager Retail at Sydney Airport, undertaking the retail redevelopment of Terminals 1 and 2.

He was also Senior Vice President Asia Pacific for Harding Retail, Group General Manager Retail at Dexus Property Group and Regional General Manager at Westfield.

Western Sydney International is on track to open to international, domestic and air cargo services in late 2026.
