Work to build Western Sydney Airport has begun, with ground broken today on the once-in-a-generation project.  

“Today marks both the end of a long journey and the start of an exciting new one,” Western Sydney Airport Chief Executive Graham Millett said.  

WSA Co today called for expressions of interest in the first of the highly soughtafter major earthworks contracts for the airport.

On Thursday 17 May, The Australian Government officially signed over the Western Sydney Airport site to WSA Co Limited (WSA Co). The granting of the lease formalises WSA Co's right to build and operate the airport.
